JVS' WoMentoring Program Gives Women Advantage in Volatile Job Market
JVS' WoMentoring program recently celebrated its 13th year of successful mentor and mentee matches with a special luncheon at the Mark. Michelle Ruiz, a former broadcast journalist and founder of Latino resource site saberhacer.com was the keynote speaker, and impressed upon the audience the importance of mentors in the workplace.
Participants in the 2009-2010 program ranged from a 76 year old retiree to single mother to a young woman unable to finish her studies due to financial issues. WoMentoring has helped hundreds of women achieve their career goals, find new careers, go back to school, or discover their goals in life.
The program is funded by Union Bank, Wells Fargo, Debbie and Rick Powell and the WoMentoring Leadership Network, a group of professional women formed by Debbie Powell, Eileen Coskey Fracchia and Judy Rosenberg to support women in the workplace. The program is now recruiting mentors and mentees for the 2010-2011 year. For more information, click on the release below.
