GONE TROPICAL
JVS HONORS MIKE AND ELLEN ROSENBERG AT PARADISE GALA

They love kids. They believe in education. They’re committed to their community. And they’re being honored with Jewish Vocational Service’s prestigious Lifetime of Service Award on February 2, 2008 at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey. Mike and Ellen Rosenberg are longtime supporters of JVS’ work to help people overcome barriers to employment, and their accomplishments and philanthropic endeavors are being recognized at JVS’ Evening in Paradise Gala on February 2, 2008 at the Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey.

Featuring the colorful décor of the islands, thanks to Hold the Date, the event will feature the music of beach reggae group the Pyronauts, as well as a silent and live auction. Think Caribbean. Think beach. Think festive. The cocktail reception starts at 7:00 p.m., with dinner following at 8:00 p.m. Ed Bagdasarian, Jeff Bronchick, and Jim Freedman are the Honorary Event Chairs, with former JVS president Rick Powell serving as Event Chair. Bronchick will also serve as host for the event.

Their approach to life is hands on, something that is reflected in their charitable work as well. A father of three, Mike Rosenberg established Westcoast Sports Associates, an organization dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged children in southern California by giving them the opportunity to participate in sports. Mike also serves on the board of several charitable and civic organizations, and was treasurer for JVS. Ellen is also actively involved in public education and is the current president of the Manhattan Beach Education Foundation (MBEF), a non-profit organization raising private funds for public schools.

Mike Rosenberg assumed the role of CEO of Barrington Associates in 2006 and has spent more than 22 years in investment banking and corporate finance, assisting corporate clients in achieving their financial and strategic objectives. He has also been the senior advisor in numerous prominent middle-market transactions, including the take-private of Herbalife International Inc., the sale of Wickes Furniture, Inc. to Sun Capital, and LAK Acquisition Corp.'s sale of the Los Angeles Kings Hockey Team. Since 1994, Mike has been listed in "Who's Who in Banking and Finance," the Los Angeles Business Journal's annual poll of the 100 most influential individuals in the Los Angeles financial services community.

Ellen Rosenberg assumed the role of CEO of the Rosenberg household in 1988. Currently she is raising three sons: Jack, Joe and Max in addition to managing Mike, pets, sports teams, musical performances, religious school and travel. Prior to leaving the professional world, Ellen worked for 15 years in the banking industry as a commercial lender at Wells Fargo and as an IBM marketing representative supporting financial institutions. While at IBM, Ellen pursed and completed a graduate degree in marketing. She joined Mattel Toys in 1996 product managing and marketing the Barbie brand until she retired in 1999 to pursue other interests. She also served as the vice president of fundraising for MBEF and President of Robinson Elementary school PTSA.

Past recipients of JVS’ Lifetime of Service Award include Roz and Abner Goldstine, Bernie and Sallie Harris, Ruth and Irving Karp, Shirley and Edgar Phillips, Jim and Laura Maslon and Betty and Chuck Wilson.

Since its founding in 1930, JVS has enhanced hundreds of thousands of lives with vital employment and career services. Each year, JVS helps more than 24,000 people through 15 locations around the Southland.
