Career Services
Career Services
Career and employment services are at the heart of JVS and serve as the common thread linking all of our programs.
Whether helping people discover or assess their skills or working on a step by step plan to help them secure a job or move up the career ladder, JVS' Career Services staff are dedicated to helping each individual attain their professional goals.
There is no doubt that the economic recession has impacted people at every level of the workforce and in response, JVS has intensified its efforts to provide comprehensive resources to job seekers and employers alike.
Working with our nationally certified career counselors, clients learn how to conduct an effective job search and best present themselves to employers, including the use of social media and networking techniques.
All services are provided by JVS’ nationally certified career counselors, many of whom hold Masters Degrees and advanced accreditation from the State of California.
Collectively, JVS’ dedicated career counselors have helped thousands of individuals find success in an often volatile job market.

A JVS Client Experience
Elyssa B. first came to JVS in 2003 as a single mother with three children, who had recently fled an abusive marriage.
Thanks to help from JVS’ Career Services program, she landed a job in sales and marketing, moving up in the company until she was earning over six figures.
With the downturn in the economy however, she lost her job and returned to JVS, this time seeking a more stable field. JVS worked with her to assess her skills and interests, and she is now pursuing a career in the nursing/healthcare industry, one of the few fields that continues to expand.
To help her get started, she is also working with a mentor through JVS’ WoMentoring program, who encouraged her to volunteer at a local hospital.
